Background
The McBride Companies are a national organization of three individual business units: McBride Electric, McBride Data Connect and McBride M-Power
Nationwide. Each concentrate on providing solutions for the technical and project management industries. The business has been around since the
early 1950s and continues to expand its reach across the United States.
Situation
At the time the McBride Companies approached Solutions Consulting Group (SCG), they were in the process of evaluating their entire business process
and were unsure of their needs. SCG already was their Great Plains provider, and McBride had installed the original Microsoft CRM 1.2 solution, which
failed to obtain a high-level corporate buyoff and as a result, not everyone used it. Instead, they were using a homebuilt Enterprise Resource
Management called Prism, which was woefully outdated. SCG was able to convince McBride executives that the latest version of CRM was a superior
product that could provide the company with the automated, end-to-end solution it sought.
Solution
McBride tapped SCG to implement the latest CRM solution, which covered about 80 percent of the company’s needs. SCG configured the workflow system to
work seamlessly with the new companywide sales process CRM enabled. McBride’s previous CRM experience made for a smoother transition. The company still
is utilizing Prism, its text-based, mainframe system, for invoicing and order taking. Although it does intend to retire it eventually, SCG was tasked
with partially integrating Prism with CRM. McBride also uses Great Plains at the present, but is contemplating a switch to accounting packages that
are more specific to their industry.
Results
With the upgrade to Microsoft CRM 3.0, SCG was able to provide an integrated, end-to-end system that enabled McBride to automate its workflow process
and integrate it with the company’s existing text-based, mainframe system. SCG configured the workflow system overall to integrate with the new,
nationwide sales process McBride recently created.
